Stratégies de femmes – Les TIC et la communication comme projet politique
Ce n'est pas seulement l'accès qui importe, c'est ce qu'on en fait ! (Qu'est-ce que nous voulons faire de notre présence sur Internet …?) Les voix de femmes …. Comment les technologies de l'information et de la communication peuvent-elles devenir un projet de mobilisation des femmes, et être utilisées stratégiquement pour renforcer les points de vue des femmes et leurs projets politiques? Promouvoir l'utilisation des TIC ne se résume pas à la réduction de l'écart existant dans l'accès des femmes et des hommes à la technologie, ni dans leur présence sur Internet - il s'agit d'espace - d'un espace qui permette de dire l'histoire et les réalités des femmes, d'un espace où les femmes puissent partager leurs préoccupations et leurs désirs, et d'un espace où présenter le monde sous l'angle et selon l'interprétation des femmes. Présentation et discussion sur les stratégies féministes en matière de TIC qui permettent d'élaborer des programmes politiques et encouragent une mobilisation en vue d'une transformation sociale.

WOMENS'S STRATEGIES - ICTS AND COMMUNICATING AS A POLITICAL PROJECT (Malin Bjork - Les Pénélopes & Sarah Bracke - The NextGenderation Network)
Promoting women's use of ICTs is not just a matter of closing the gap between women and men in access to technology and presence on the Internet - it is about space - a space to tell the stories and realities of women, a space for women to share their concerns and desires, and a space to present women's perspectives and interpretation of the world. Today we got to know more about two organisations who offer this space.
Les Pénélopes
The goal of les Pénélopes is to promote, edit and diffuse information (website, monthly newsletter, mailinglists) from the point of view of women and to favor all activity ensuring the exchange, the handling, the updating, the centralization, and the diffusion of this information in favor af all women of the world.
Through the Internet, they establish contacts and form relationships. They want to make visible (text, images, video tools,... are very important when it comes to the politics of communication) all initiatives brought by women and to multiply networks.
The NextGenderation Network
The Next Genderation (NG) network is a European network of students and graduates interested in feminist theories and politics. The network is deeply concerned with the democratisation of higher education. They start from a critical distance towards the classic conception of the university as an ivory tower . The access to higher education, and the way in which power mechanisms such as gender, ethnicity and class structure this access are of primary concern. They are invested in a vision of the university as a place for the production of critical and socially relevant knowledge (produced from feminist, anti-racist, post-colonial and anti-heterosexist points of view).
The idea of a European network of younger scholars in women's, gender or feminist studies was born in June 1998, out of the discussion of 4 young women studies students. Meanwhile it has traveled in several directions and contexts. This means local NG groups look quite different (may or may not be primarily academically-based) and are engaged in different issues, although they share strong feminist, anti-racist, anti-heterosexist and post-colonial standpoints. They have the common space of an email-list. This list was the starting point for the Next Genderation network and is open to everyone interested. It serves to keep in contact, to spread information about conferences, workshops, seminars, programmes, funding possibilities, calls for papers/participation, open positions/ job opportunities and other related information and other activities of interest in the field of European and international Women's Studies. They also hope that the list can function as a platform for discussing topics related to Women's Studies and feminist theory and practices. " ]
